Bio
Carmen Gray, M.A., was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia, and they are currently pursuing their PhD in Couple and Family Therapy at Kansas State University. Carmen’s clinical training began at Appalachian State University where they earned their master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a certificate in Systemic Multicultural Counseling. They believe that every client deserves a safe space to feel seen and understood without the added pressure of educating their therapist on power and oppression. While at Kansas State, Carmen has had the pleasure of offering affirming and inclusive therapy to Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) and LGBT+ clients. Their research area is "Combating Black Trauma and Adversity" where they focus on examining hardships that specifically affect Black American individuals, couples, and families and the ways they can cope, overcome, and find joy with the goal of using this research to inform and improve their clinical practice.
